1 Personal liability insurance
Case A: Driver is to blame
Personal liability insurance fundamentally covers all personal injuries of passengers -including injury compensation. All individuals sharing the same car should sign a statement of Limited liability. It excludes entitlement to compensation of any amount which may exceed the agreed cover. Should a passenger be under-age, both parents must provide a signature. Should an individual's personal liability have to pay damages, a proportion of the no-claims bonus is lost. Case B: The driver is not to blame
In the case of individuals, either the personal liability insurance of other parties involved or the national insurance of the passenger is applied.



2 Sharing of costs
The driver may only charge passengers a prportion of the total journey costs.
Should he ask for more than just expenses, he may be required to pay out in the case of an accident. His insurance company would take the view that he has used his vehicle for financial gain. This can cost the driver up to € 2500 per accident.



3 Is the use of Mitfahrzentrale.de free of charge?
On Mitfahrzentrale.de there are two types of membership. One free of charge and one with charges. The service therefore requires a sharing of expenses. Mitfahrzentrale.de does not demand a contribution towards journey costs or apply mediation charges. In order to register as a member of the cost-free service, please select the „Register“-Button on the start page of Mitfahrzentrale.de. Then you can place offers free of charge, search for notices of other users, make and recieve queries on offers and searches via Email. The chargeable Premium-Membership includes some additional features. Amongst other things, you can view the telephone numbers of individual users. A Registration for the Premium-Membership is possible through the „Premium-Member“ Links or in the area for viewing offer details under „Release telephone number“.



4 What is a Premium-Membership?
Through the Premium-Membership, Mitfahrzentrale.de offers you some additional features:
 
  • Faster establishment of contact through the viewing of telephone numbers: Premium-Members gain access to the telephone numbers of each offer
  • No annoying Banner advertising in your account
  • Areas for commentary on the offers of other users can be read

There are two types of Premium-Membership. A 31-day-membership for 2,99€ or a 365-day-membership for 19,99€. The Premium-Membership must be terminated, otherwise the membership is extended beyond the chosen booking period. A Termination is possible through either Email, a letter or Fax to the Support team of Mitfahrzentrale.de or independently in your individual member's area on the internet.

5 How do I terminate my Premium-Membership?
You must only terminate your Premium-Membership if you have arranged your Premium-Membership payment via bank transfer. Should the termination be unsuccessful or untimely, the membership is extended beyond the chosen booking period. The termination must therefore be carried out at least 14 days before the booking period expires.  Termination is possible independently on the internet, otherwise send an Email, Fax or a letter to Mitfahrzentrale.de. Please provide your name, the Email address stored on Mitfahrzentrale.de and your user number. You will then recieve a confirmation of termination from us via Email.  Our contact details can be found under hier

In order to carry out a termination over the internet, please logon to Mitfahrzentrale.de, then select Premium-Membership termination from the menu. Then follow the instructions as provided.



6 How is the journey price established?
Mitfahrzentrale.de has no influence upon the journey price. Fundamentally, there are no fees charged for mediation, neither do driver and passenger pay a share of journey costs or other similar charges to Mitfahrzentrale.de. In case of questions relating to the price, please contact your driver directly. On Mitfahrzentrale.de there is a journey price calculator. This is not binding. It should simply give an approximate indication. The driver has the final word on the setting of the journey price. It is therefore recommended that you always clear the issue of cost prior to the journey.



7 I wish to make a complaint about somebody.
You can evaluate other users through Mitfahrzentrale.de. Through this evaluation, you can accordingly draw attention to individuals.

Should you, however, wish to make a concrete complaint about a particular user, you can contact us via Support Mail to make your complaint.

Mitfahrzentrale.de will not accept unserious and unreliable users. Should Mitfahrzentrale.de become informed of such behaviour, the member concerned will be barred from the service. We reserve the right to make legal steps and claims.



8 How safe is Mitfahrzentrale.de?
Mitfahrzentrale.de offers the safe user service. Members who have registered as such are specially highlighted by a symbol (Castle). Safe users have a checked copy of their personal identity saved with us. During establishment of contact, take note of the safe-user symbol. Are you interested in obtaining a "safe user" symbol yourself? Here you become a safe user.

In addition, note the following points in order to make a journey safer: 

Please take note of the journey number given to your journey. Based on the number, any user can be added to the journey. Mitfahrzentrale.de makes the telephone number, address and IP-Address of the user available.

If possible, get in touch with your driver/passengers via telephone prior to the journey.  

Please take note of the driver's name with contact details such as Email-Address and telephone number. Leave the details with friends/ relatives.

Inform yourself on the length of the journey and tell someone at the point of destination your approximate time of arrival. Inform this person of any obstacles e.g through traffic jams or breakdowns.

Keep your mobile phone charged and within reach.



9 How do I become a safe user?
Simply send us a copy of you Personal Identity in a fax or Email, Do not forget your membership number!. You can find the contact details for this here


10 I cannot gain access to comments on offers?
Comments on individual journeys can be entered by any registered user, but can only be seen by Premium-Members.

Should you wish to further explain details of your offers, you can also use the text field of your profile card. This can be viewed by all registered users.



11 My profile card has not been released. Why?
Whilst creating your profile card, take note of the following points:
 
  • Has your photo been uploaded correctly?
  • No contact details, such as telephone number or Email address, must be given on the profile card.
  • The textfield for the profile card must be filled out.

The profile cards are checked for content. Their activation can therefore take up to 48 hours.

13 I have to logon often!! - what can I do?

Problem: I am logged on but am continually required to logon again when trying to enter a driver or passenger offer.

Solution: Internet Explorer

Under Menu- Extras, choose
--> Internet options
--> General
--> Delete Cookies
--> Confirm

Solution: Netscape Navigator

Under Menu- edit, choose
--> Settings
--> extended
--> Cache
--> Delete memory cache
--> confirm
--> Delete hard drive cache
--> confirm

14 General rules of conduct

Mitfahrzentrale.de offers its services on the apparently anonymous worldWide Web. But real people are behind each search and offer. In order to avoid possile difficulties and misunderstandings, there are some very simple rules which simplify cooperation. 

·        Be reliable

o  If you have made arrangements to meet other users, please try to stick to these arrangements. Other members rely on you and there is nothing more annoying than somebody not turning up for a journey.

o  If, as a driver or passenger, are unavailable at any point, pass this information on in good time!

o  Agree upon waiting times when picking someone up or being picked up.

·        Be fair

o  As a driver, pay attention to the fairness of the price. The service of Mitfahrzentrale.de is not meant to be used for profitable purposes. As a passenger, be aware that most drivers know how much they can charge for a journey. Apart from this, the price changes according to the number of passengers and type of vehicle. Therefore, clear any queries regarding the price prior to the journey.

o  The cost of any diversions should be agreed upon before the journey begins.

o  Each driver should make the final decisions in his own car. (Smoking!)

o  Do not double- book!

o  Consider the following: You expect others to treat you well, so you do the same!

·        Mitfahrzentrale.de will not tolerate any unreliable or unserious users

o  Should any members cause you trouble, you can send your complaint to Mitfahrzentrale.de via This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Mitfahrzentrale.de then informs and blocks the members if necessary.  

·        Keep your offers here up to date

o  In the interest of yourself and other users, keep your entries up to date. This prevents possible frustration for both sides!
By doing this you avoid

·  being contacted about old entries which are no longer valid (Telephone, SMS, ...)

·  Someone interested attempts in vain to find out about an offer which is no longer valid.

Our system automatically deletes offers after they expire. Unfortunately, some invalid entries do appear which have been given wrong dates.
